Emphasis on Concept Mastering

Special tools for introductory classes that promote conceptual understanding rather than wrote memorization. Students find little lasting value as statistics show that a majority of them mostly prepare a few days before the exam and focus on memorization not understanding the concepts.

Homework Assignment Goals

Students have become more sophisticated using Internet resources to circumvent the intended goals to work on homework assignments. Detailed solutions to most textbook questions can be found online without much effort.

Personalized Content

Traditional paper textbooks in sciences are difficult to use for modern students and have become unnecessarily bulky and lengthy. A more personalized approach is needed that answers specific student questions in a shorter and more manageable fashion. The publishing component of the SHW allows each instructor to selectively use customized materials that best fit a particular courses student population.

Micro Publishing

Instructors can publish learning materials. This can greatly reduce the cost of education.

The platform also has the capability to embed e-books and many other types of learning tools.

Flipped Classroom

The Social Homework and Koondis Platforms are ideal for use in flipped classrooms. Using the platform, students discuss the content material prior to face-to-face meeting. The instructor has advanced knowledge of the problem areas and students can introduce new topics of interest through the tool.
